TIME FOR A FINANCIAL REVIEW  

Now that tax season is past us, we can breath a sigh of relief for another ear.  As you completed your tax forms, you may have looked at your income and wondered, “Where did it all go”?  It seems like a fair earnings on paper, but you look at your savings, and it doesn’t look like you made any progress.  Don’t make the mistake of saying the same thing again next year.  

Now is the time to sit down and do a financial review. 

Set your goals of what you want for yourself and your family.  It may be planning for a new arrival, a college education for your children, retirement or planning for next year’s vacation.  Many of us spend more time planning for a vacation than we do our financial future.  The vacation planning may be fun, but reviewing our assets, savings, life insurance, etc., is as enjoyable as preparing an income tax return.  In addition, we may not have the training or understand how to set up a financial plan.  As a result we put it off.

One thing I recommend is to review your credit report.  As of March 1, 2005 , you can get a free credit report once a year from each of the three credit reporting companies.  You do need to be careful, because there are companies on the Internet who give you a free credit report but get you to sign up for a monthly report for which you pay a fee.  To obtain a free credit report you can contact the following:
