FIRST FRIDAY FISH FRY

THERE WILL BE NO FISH FRIES IN SEPTEMBER

The next first Friday fish fry will be on Oct. 3rd with serving from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and as always we can use desserts.  All those who are scheduled to work at the fish fries are asked to please remain and help with the final cleanup.  If you are scheduled to work and you can’t make it, it is your responsibility to find someone to replace you.  If you are not scheduled but can work, your help would be appreciated.

The date for this year's annual Family Day has been set.   It will be held on Saturday, September 13th.   This is a day of fun, food, and fellowship, all courtesy of the council.  Hope to see you there.

LADIES APPRECIATION DINNER

There were 36 ladies and 25 members in attendance for the Ladies Appreciation dinner on Saturday, August 23rd.  All who attended, certainly enjoyed the meal and the fellowship.   A BIG BIG THANK YOU to brothers Larry Buehler, Jim Giesmann, Jerry Schnyder, Mike Yerion, Mike Saali and wife Shirley.

DUES

On the annual dues notice, there are two voluntary assessments listed, one for $7.50 for the Religious Information Bureau and one for $5.00 for local Catholic Education Fund.   We hope all will be generous.  The financial secretary has recently sent out second notices to those members in arrears and asks that the members pay as soon as possible.

CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 12th Annual Charity Golf Classic was held on Friday August 8 at the Warrenton Golf Course.  The golf chairmen gratefully thank all of our volunteer workers, the golfers, hole sponsors and contributors who again made this a great day.  We were again blessed with a great workforce and great weather. (We must have a few brothers with some influence up there!)  While there are still a couple of bills outstanding, it is clear that we will net a profit of more than $12,000, a new record.  Also, we reached a new level of over $100,000 over 12 years of tournaments.   Again, thanks to all! “It’s never too early to think about next year…mark your calendar for the second Friday in August, which will be August 13, 2004.”

STATE HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT

There were 12 men’s and 4 ladies teams from the council who competed in the annual horseshoe tournament in De Soto,  MO, on August 17th and 18th.  There were no trophy winners in the men’s division, however Jill Veness and Julie Molitor finished in 1st place in C class women’s division.  Our congratulations to Jill and Julie the winners.
